Swimming Strong is a mobile swim school that provides private instruction in water safety, beginning swimming and advanced stroke techniques for competitive swimming.


All ages and skill levels are welcome.

SKILLS CHART



Instruction is designed to meet the individual needs of each swimmer. Lessons will follow a progressive skill building timeline to ensure consistent practice at each level before moving on to the next. This method enables swimmers to gain a solid foundation on which to build more advanced skills and gain independence, confidence and proficiency in the water.

WATER SAFETY



Introduction to the water, floating, submerging, swimming to safety ​



BEGINNING SWIMMING



Continued water safety practice, introduction of basic stroke techniques, gaining water confidence ​



INTERMEDIATE SWIMMING



Continued practice of basic stroke techniques, introduction to breathing techniques and more advanced strokes, diving for submerged objects



ADVANCED SWIMMING



Continued practice of all competitive strokes with an emphasis on proper stroke technique, introduction of starts and turns, endurance building



SWIM TEAM PREPARATION



Continued practice in the four competitive strokes with an emphasis on proper stroke technique, introduction to interval training and endurance building, advanced practice in competitive starts and turns​



ADVANCED STROKE TECHNIQUE WORKSHOPS



Individualized training in improving stroke technique for competitive swimmers. May include stroke technique modification, starts and turns, endurance building and interval training. Workshops are designed to meet the specific needs of the individual.



A Bit About Swimming Strong


As a competitive swimmer growing up in Hawaii, I was lucky to have swam under inspiring coaches and later to have had leadership training under exemplary program directors at two highly regarded swim instruction programs on the island.


Teaching swimming supported my higher education and allowed me to continue doing something that I loved while pursuing a degree in art and later a career in Interior Design. I was eventually led back to my passion for teaching children to swim after working in the field of design for several years and pursuing higher education courses in elementary education.


Swimming Strong was born of a strong desire to share my knowledge and experience with aspiring swimmers, young and old. Teaching swimming continues to be a joy for me. Every day I commit to empowering swimmers of all ages to overcome their fears, learn to love the water and accomplish their swimming goals.

' Jorrin, my two-year old, was deathly afraid of water and would cling to me 'opihi-style' whenever we'd get in the water. After a few short lessons with 'Aunty Kristi', Jorrin is now 'Me first!' when he and his older brother have swim lessons. Becausee Kristi makes swimming fun and makes him feel safe, Jorrin is now learning to kick his feet, to blow bubbles , and to float on his back. He sometimes even goes underwater!'
